If singing could kill...

If singing could kill . . .
We would've murdered all the customers at Gurney Plaza!!
Seriously. A whole lot of us attended (Lim) Carmen's birthday celebration at GP's Red Box last Thursday. And the noise level created by those of us who were present was unbelievable! No wonder people couldn't stop staring. They were probably wondering if we were carrying out some violent slaughtering ritual.
So when we started out all of us were screaming at the top of our lungs into the microphones (or just into space, if for those who didn't have any). We sang all sorts of songs; from male songs to female songs and Western songs to Eastern songs, and then we were feeling chin-chia song but I'm sure the people outside were thinking chin-chia pai tia . . . Okay I dunno how bad it really was because I certainly was a part of it as well!
And we were supposed to eat lunch there, but the Red Box man said that after 12 o'clock NO MORE LUNCH! Who eats lunch before 12?? Some people also never wake up yet!! So we had to tar pao from McDonald's! Not that I minded. But the woman at the counter was so beh syok beh syok us like that. Maybe she was jealous of our wonderful voices? Yes, that must have been it.
Then we got back into our Red Box. And continued singing our hearts/lungs out. However, you know how time flies when you're having fun. So before long, it was almost time to go. And that's when our beloved Pauline made her grand arrival! Just in time for our closing ceremony. Wow, Pauline your timing too chun already!
And even when the time for us to leave came, none of us would stop singing. It was like all of us were in a trance, all holding hands and just singing and not wanting to stop, like we would die if we did! All right, that wasn't really what it was like. So give or take 50% accuracy.
That was not all that happened *grins* but I'm too lazy to go on! Thank you and goodnight!
*I don't have any pictures! Ee Vern and Amanda do; bother THEM! =P

Change is good.

I don't feel so bad about having to leave school anymore.
Leaving school means cutting ties with old friends,
but where some friendships end - others begin.
That doesn't sound so bad after all, does it?
Change is good. Change is exciting. Change is refreshing.
Besides, what good are friends if they make you feel horrible?
Friends? FRENEMIES, more like.
I hate all of you.
Actually, I can't wait to leave Form 5!
To leave it all behind, and start anew.
(Well, not ALL.)
Certain memories I'd like to keep,
but there is so much more that I'd like to forget.

In the meantime, I'll just live my life to the fullest!

Friends Forever

One reason I liked this song the moment I heard it: it sounds so peculiarly similar to Pachelbel's Canon In D!! I've never bothered to find out what the lyrics are all about, until very recently. And they affected me very greatly because, well, that's exactly what's happening to us! So here it is.

And here are the lyrics.

And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out 'cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now 'cause you don't have another day
'Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
(And I keep thinking of the night in June
I didn't know much of love, but it came too soon
And there was me and you, and then it got real blue
Stay at home talkin' on the telephone and
We would get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at ourselves thinking life's not fair)

And this is how it feels

As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, come whatever
We will still be, friends forever

So if we get the big jobs and we make the big money
When we look back now, will that joke still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learned in school?
Still be trying to break every single rule?
(Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?
Can Heather find a job that won't interfere with her tan?
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly)

And this is how it feels

As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, come whatever
We will still be, friends forever

Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?
Can we survive it out there? Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
And suddenly it's like we're women (and men)
Will the past be a shadow that will follow us round?
Will these memories fade when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly

As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, come whatever
We will still be, friends forever
(I hope)

I know these aren't my own words, (and some parts of aren't related to us anyhow) but most of it are things that I'd like to express to all my classmates of these many years!
And I freaking hope they don't try and sing this song on the last day of school. I'll never stop crying!!

Waa...?

WHOOPS.
When your best friends fail you . . .
I got 43 for BM?
When you turn out to be so wrong . . .
I was THIS CLOSE to failing!
When everything you believe in just falls apart around you . . .
How did that even happen??
How does that ever happen??
*faints*
When life turns its back against you . . .
Oh well!
All you have to do is to get up.
I'm sure I won't do so abysmally for the next one.
All you have to do is believe.
Jia you!!
And you will smile again.

*ahem* I don't even wanna think what it looks like!

. . . And here's a toast to the end of the tests!!

The school tests ended today. The finish was a horrible one! Gahh, that last paper was absolutely devastating. Anyhow, it is all over! And for now, that's all that matters.
Here is a little something to acknowledge the end of the first of four Form 5 exams:

During a class, the professor told this story about a colleague. Students in the other professor's class had taken to tossing erasers at the clock. Each precise hit caused it to jump ahead one minute.
Before class one morning they succeeded in advancing the clock by ten minutes. Since the new time indicated that the professor was beyond the accepted starting time, the class left. The professor never said a word about the incident.
However, he presented the class with a very difficult final exam. As the students laboured to finish within the allotted time, the professor amused himself by tossing erasers at the clock.

Heheh! And . . .
A few words of wisdom (regarding exams!):
You may look up for inspiration,
or down in desperation -
but not to the side for information!

- In support of facing exams with a brighter mood xP -
